Swimming Coaches

Mike Uchrin (Co-Head Coach)

I am proud to introduce myself as the head coach of YOUR Community Park Bluefish! Prior to arriving at Community Park, my passion for swimming goes back many years to training at a local YMCA. Like many of ourswimmers, the sport turned into a life-long dedication which took me on a path to aquatics leadership and coaching. I joined the Princeton Recreation Department  team in 2011 as a pool manager and assistant swim coach for the 13 and 14 age group. In 2013, I moved up to coach the 15 & over agegroup and became the Aquatics Director for Community Park Pool. In the months that I am not at Community Park I am a teacher at Hamilton Township Public Schools, and I coach for the NJ Stingrays USA Swimming team out of the Lawrenceville School.

Over the years working with the Bluefish team, I've come to understand the deep history this team possesses. I've seen swimmers graduate after swimming with our team every single summer for 12 years. I've had swimmers who have graduated, left for college, then come back to express how something is missing from their summers without Bluefish. I've heard the stories of past Bluefish swimmers who have achieved legendary status for their sharks and minnows skills. I understand the tradition thisteam has and I am very excited to continue it and help the team achieve even more.

I am thrilled to be back for my second season coaching the Bluefish this summer. I began swimming when I was 8 years old for my local summer team the Twin Rivers Torpedoes. Just two years later I began swimming year-round for a club team called the Stingrays. I then swam on the Hightstown High School varsity swim team for 3 years. I have now graduated from Lycoming College where I was a member of the swim team for all 4 years and was also a team captain during my junior year. I can’t wait for another great summer season!

I’ve been coaching Bluefish since 2019 and can’t wait for another season! I first started swimming on the team as a 6 & Under and went on to swim competitively year round for 12 years. I am a rising junior at the College of William & Mary where I study marketing and psychology. I absolutely love spending the summer watching our bluefish swimmers improve and have fun while they do it!

I am super excited to coach Bluefish this summer! I started swimming for Bluefish when I was 6 and swam year-round in the Princeton area for 8 years. I currently swim on the club team at Duke University while studying environmental science. I can’t wait to share my love for this team and sport with younger swimmers this season!

Age group 9-10 (Head)

I have been coaching Bluefish since 2012 and I can’t wait to get started this summer! I started swimming when I was 11, and then swam competitively for Princeton High School. I graduated from Denison University in 2018, went on to get a masters degree in elementary education from the University of Pennsylvania, and am now a kindergarten teacher in Dunellen, NJ. Coaching Bluefish has been the highlight of my summers, and I love watching the progression of swimmers as they grow more confident in their abilities and love to swim. I’m looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and meeting new ones, and having a fun filled season!

This is my second year as a Bluefish coach, and I am so excited to see everyone again! I began swimming competitively on the Montgomery Marlins when I was 8 years old. In 2013, I joined the Barracuda swim team and eventually swam for Bluefish. I will be a senior at Seton Hall University in the fall, pursuing degrees in Biology and Secondary education. I have been a swim instructor at Princeton Community Park Pool for 6 years, and I have given swim lessons to Hun Summer Camp and HomeFront children. My experience as a substitute teacher and student teacher has given me valuable knowledge to become an effective coach. I look forward to a wonderful season!

I am very excited to coach Bluefish this summer! This is my second year coaching for Bluefish. I started swimming and diving for Bluefish as an 8 & Under. Some of my favorite summer memories are from Bluefish practices and meets. I just graduated from The Pennington School, and am planning on swimming at Middlebury College next year. I can’t wait for a great season!

I’m super excited to be coaching the 8 and under group again! This is my third summer coaching Bluefish, but my love for summer swimming has been going strong since I was young. I swim for Skidmore College and have been teaching swim lessons for over 4 years. I can’t wait to start the season and share my love for the sport with younger swimmers.

I am very excited for my second year coaching Bluefish, and my first year with the 8 and unders! I have been a swimmer on Bluefish since I was 8, and I swam competitively from 2014-2020 with the NJ Stingrays. I have loved coming back to this team every summer, and I love coaching! I am a 2023 graduate of Princeton High School where I was a varsity athlete, musician, and performer, and I am a rising freshman at Boston University. I can’t wait for another great season!

Deb Cherry

I started my swimming career at the age of 7 and continued swimming through high school. I swam at The University of Pennsylvania for 4 years while in college. After this I coached an age group team and a high school team for several years. I coached locally for the NJ Stingrays for many years and then for PTAC for some time. I love coaching summer swimming and have spent several summers coaching PASDA swimming. I am very excited to be with Community Park Bluefish with the 6 and unders for another great season!
